There are many rivers in india. Like the same there is a river called PAPAGNI also. PAPAGNI is a river which flows in the states Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
It is not a perennial river.It is a tributary of Penna. PAPAGNI is a word which is derived from two words papa means sin and agni means fire. The word PAPAGNI totally gives us the meaning a river which burn our sin in the fire, and makes us a fine man.
History
Every place will have a history .Even the river Papagni also has a history beside its name. At olden days ,The king had killed a innocent tribal cheiftain of chenchu's . By this incident the king who killed cheiftain had affected with leprosy (kustu vyadhi in telugu) for the sin he did. The king had gone to Papagni valley and made penance and took a dip into the river water. He had lost his disease and become a healthy man . By this incident it was named as a Papagni .

It starts in NANDHI hills of CHICBALLAPUR district in the village sidlagattu.It flows In Kolar of Karnataka and chittor, ,kadapa, ,anantapur in Andhra Pradesh. Papagni covers a distance of 8250 km^2 and in 30 mandals. In rayalaseema it flows through 21 mandals. Flowing through palakonda arrays and reaches kadapa district.
types of soils:
As the river flows through different regions. the soil here will be black soil, loamy soil, red soils.60% of this land is used for farming. 15% is forest. The farmers near this river will get good yield.They mainly
grow paddy,cereals like goduma (brown) .
